Shopify Flow is Shopify’s native automation tool and is available on eligible Shopify plans.
This guide explains how Shopify Flow is used with Rendr to push orders into the Rendr portal for fulfilment and notify staff of new orders.
1. Overview
The Rendr + Shopify Flow integration allows merchants to automate fulfilment workflows by triggering actions when specific order events occur in Shopify.
Shopify Flow is not used to show delivery rates at checkout.
Instead, it is used after checkout to automate what happens next.
With Shopify Flow, merchants can:
Automatically send orders to the Rendr portal for fulfilment
Trigger delivery creation based on order or fulfilment events
Notify staff when new orders need to be fulfilled
Reduce manual handoff between checkout and delivery booking
Flow works alongside existing Rendr checkout integrations such as:
Rendr Shopify Plugin
Shopify Local Delivery
Bespoke Shipping
2. How It Works (High-Level)
Shopify Flow listens for events in Shopify and then performs actions automatically.
Typical flow:
A customer places an order in Shopify
A delivery method (e.g. Same Day) is selected at checkout
Shopify Flow detects an order event
Flow sends order details to the Rendr portal
Staff are notified to action the order
Staff log into Rendr and book the delivery
Shopify Flow controls automation and notifications.
Rendr controls delivery booking and fulfilment.
3. Common Integration Pathways
Shopify Flow is flexible and can be used with multiple Rendr setups.
Shopify Flow can be used alongside:
Rendr Shopify Plugin (carrier rates)
Shopify Local Delivery
Bespoke Shipping
In all cases:
Checkout determines eligibility and pricing
Shopify Flow handles automation
Rendr fulfils the delivery
Shopify Flow / Fulfilment
After the order is placed:
Shopify Flow creates the job in the Rendr portal
Staff receive an email notification
Staff log into Rendr to book the delivery
This ensures a clean handoff between checkout and fulfilment.
4. Prerequisites
Before setting up Shopify Flow:
What you’ll need
A Shopify store with Admin access
Shopify Flow app installed
A Rendr merchant account
5. Installing Shopify Flow
Log into Shopify Admin
Go to Apps
Open the Shopify App Store
Search for Shopify Flow
Click Install
Success looks like:
Shopify Flow appears in your Apps list
6. Creating a Rendr Fulfilment Flow
Typical Flow Structure
A common Rendr flow includes:
Trigger
Order created, or
Order fulfilled, or
Order tagged, or
Shipping method contains “Same Day”
The exact trigger depends on your fulfilment setup.
Conditions (Optional)
Conditions may include:
Shipping method equals Same Day
Delivery method contains Rendr
Order location equals specific store
This ensures only relevant orders are sent to Rendr.
7. Staff Notifications
Shopify Flow can notify staff when action is required.
Common notification types:
Email: New Rendr order ready for booking
SMS (via connected apps): Urgent Same Day orders
Example use case:
Order placed
-
Flow sends email:
“New Same Day order received. Please log into the Rendr portal to book delivery.”
8. Fulfilment via Rendr Portal
Once Flow sends the order to Rendr:
The order appears in the Rendr portal
Staff review order details
Staff book the delivery
Rendr allocates the most suitable carrier
Customer notifications are sent
This approach keeps delivery booking controlled while still fully automated.
9. Testing the Integration
Step 1 – Place a Test Order
Place an order using a Rendr delivery option
Confirm the order appears in Shopify
Step 2 – Confirm Flow Trigger
Open Shopify Flow
View Flow run history
Confirm the flow was triggered successfully
Step 3 – Confirm in Rendr
Log into the Rendr portal
Confirm the order appears for fulfilment
Success looks like:
Flow runs successfully
Staff receive notifications if set up
Order is visible in Rendr
10. Troubleshooting
